This project explores the origins of several food dyes additives that was once of natural origin. The long, unfamiliar names of additives on food package may appear as unhealthy chemical compounds. In fact, every food is build up of chemical compounds that determine flavor, color, texture and nutrient value. Today, food and color additives are more strictly studied, regulated and monitored than at any other time in history. Many of food additives from The International Numbering System for Food Additives (INS) were once of natural origin, but modern technologies swiping up the borders between natural and synthetic and many of additives now are produced synthetically. This project explores the origins of several food dyes additives from INS that was once of natural origin.
